The key themes for ENOG 3 are peering, interconnection and collaboration between Internet service providers (ISPs). Update on payment options to the RIPE NCC

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to report that the RIPE NCC has expanded its payment options to all RIPE NCC members this year to include PayPal and VISA virtual credit cards. This change is the result of last year's discussions at ENOG 2 and on the mailing list that the RIPE NCC investigate different payment options for RIPE NCC members in Russia. After investigating several methods, it became clear that PayPal and virtual credit cards would be the most suitable alternative payment options at this time. Other options, like opening a local bank account in Russia in RUB or EUR or opening a bank in the Netherlands in RUB to facilitate payments in local currency would not decrease the complexity and costs of payments to the RIPE NCC since this would be seen as an international transfer. Russian members informed us that local Russian payments can only be made to organisations registered in Russia. Our Executive Board decided that the RIPE NCC will not pursue a registration in Russia at this point in time as this would result in a high overhead and cost. ENOG 3 Programme Committee: Call for Volunteers

Dear colleagues, The ENOG Programme Committee (PC) is getting ready to start working on the programme for the ENOG 3 meeting, which will take place in Odessa, Ukraine, in May 2012 (dates to be confirmed). While the PC has already attracted a strong team of industry experts with diverse regional and international experience, we are looking for new members to join us. What is expected from a PC member? ------------------------------- - To stay aware of the topics that address the needs and interests of the ENOG community. This requires good knowledge of relevant regional and/or international issues and usually assumes attendance of ENOG meetings. - To actively seek content that is relevant and interesting to the ENOG community. This includes reaching out to presenters of interesting talks, people involved in projects, research or other activities that may be of interest to the community. - To actively participate in forming the programme of the ENOG meeting. This implies active participation in the PC activities (teleconferences, on-site meetings, reviews, etc.) and working towards reaching consensus on decision points. - To actively publicize the meeting and its agenda to potential attendees, using both personal contacts and social networking. If you meet the above requirements and are willing to commit your expertise and energy to the work of the ENOG 3 PC, please send an email and tell us about your area of expertise to: <pc(a)enog.org>. RIPE 64 meeting: important deadline is approaching

The PC seeks presentations covering various aspects of Internet evolution, operation and governance. RIPE 64: Call for Presentations

Dear Colleagues, RIPE 64 takes place on 16-20 April 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals from the RIPE community for the Plenary, BoF and tutorial sessions at RIPE 64. The PC seeks presentations covering topics of network engineering and operations, including but not limited to: • IPv6 deployment • Managing IPv4 scarcity in operations • Commercial transactions of IPv4 addresses • Data centre technologies • Network and DNS operations • Internet governance and regulatory practices • Network and routing security * Content delivery * Internet peering and mobile data exchange Submissions ------------ Attendees of the RIPE meetings are quite sensitive to keeping presentations non-commercial, and product marketing talks are strongly discouraged. Repeated audience feedback shows that the most successful talks focus on operational experience, research results, or case studies. For example, presenters wishing to describe a commercial solution should focus on the underlying technology and not attempt a product demonstration. Presenters who are proposing a panel or BOF are encouraged to include speakers from several (perhaps even competing) companies and/or a neutral facilitator. Presenters should indicate how much time they will require (30 minutes is a common maximum duration, although some talks can be longer). Proposals for presentations must be submitted for full consideration no later than *3 February* using the online topic submission system at: http://meetings.ripe.net/pc/ Presentations submitted after this date will be considered on a space-available basis. In addition to presentations selected in advance for the plenary, the RIPE PC also offers several timeslots for “lightning talks” which are selected immediately before or during the conference. Lightning talks are short (10 mins maximum) and often involve more timely topics. Lightning talks will be announced shortly before the conference. If you are aware of a talk that might be interesting to the community, please provide us with the details and we will approach the potential speaker. ENOG 2: Agenda and Tutorials Update

And what should be in one? -------------------------------------------- Tutorial 2: ISP and IXP Interaction Tutorial -------------------------------------------- Alexander Ilin (MSK-IX) (presented in Russian): The target of this tutorial is to introduce network managers, network administrators, to the principles and practice of network configuration for interaction with IXP. The tutorial will cover several aspects related typical network configuration mistakes, hardware and software issues. ENOG talk submisions

Dear colleagues, This is to quickly inform you about the selection process for ENOG talks. First of all - thank you for all the speakers that submitted their proposals to the Programme Committee. We have received more than 20 proposals for talks, tutorials/workshops and panel discussions. We discussed the proposals and are very pleased with this number, but before we can make the final selection we need to complete the draft meeting plan. Only then we can say for sure which talks can be definitely accepted, accepted with modifications or rejected. We hope to come back to all speakers with our decision by the end of this week.
